Finlandia Order of Runeberg visiting Seattle! |

 The Finlandia Order of Runeberg (FOR) Choir and Folkdance Group will give a concert and performance at the Swedish Cultural Center on Tuesday, July 1 starting at 7 p.m. FOR was founded 1961 and has its own choir and a folkdance group, each founded in 1977. The choir and dance group members are primarily from Ostrobothnia. FOR, which calls Vasa its home, is a freestanding cultural organization with close ties to the American Order of Runeberg. FOR’s goal is to promote contacts between Swede Finns in Finland and America. For that purpose FOR arranges tours and cultural exchange in both directions.

 Press Release from The Swedish Finn Historical Society,
Seattle, Washington
December 10, 2007
June Pelo from Port Charlotte, Florida has been awarded the Suomi-Seura (Finland Society) Silver Badge of Merit. She was nominated by The Swedish Finn Historical Society and the award was approved in Finland on November 8, 2007. The Society’s annual meeting and luncheon will be held in Bellevue Washington on Saturday, March 8, 2008. Susanne Österlund-Pötzsch will be coming from Helsingfors Finland to speak to the membership.

A new database is now online, ie. a Temperance Society Membership lists from 1917. Material entered by Dick Erickson & Co at SFHS. The database can be accessed here and is searchable in a traditional way. Please note the possibility to search using the "contains" -operator in the different fields!!
